Captains Course at Flagship Maritime Traning

http://www.flagshipmaritimetraining.com/ Back in March of this Year I took the 6 pack Captains Course with Skip and Jan Anderson owners of Flagship Maritime Training Center in Tacoma Washington. I had always wanted to get my Captains License but I never realized how much more there was to it. I was amazed at how much I did not know about Boating Safety, Boat handling, Rule of the Road on the Water, and navigation. In the end I did received my Captains License but the knowledge I gained during the course is invaluable. Skip does a Phenomenal job Teaching you to be a better Mariner. I highly recommend this course to anyone who operates a boat on any large body of water. Not necessarily to receive a license but to become a better and safer boat operator. Another side benefit, you will receive a better rate on your boat insurance. I will be attending again this week to take the Upgrade to Master 100 ton course. I am looking forward to this course to take the next step in my Licensing process. It is very challenging but very enjoyable to learn more about what I truly enjoy doing. Check out their website. I have attached a link here or get in touch with me for more information

What a Season!

As we enter the 3rd week of September Salmon season in the Ocean is once again winding down.
As sad as it makes many of us it is a grim reality that hits us every year. It is the time when we start pulling gear off the boat, making a repair list, sending gear off to be repaired, start saving gas money for next year. Funny thing is most people can tell you how long it is till Halibut season 2015....

Our store will remain open through the winter with our hours being just the weekends, Friday through Monday. We are having some Really good end of the season sales so if you are in town stop by and check it out. Email me at kcsportfishing@gmail.com if you are interested in what we have on sale

We are going to try to make one last Tuna run in early October if the Tuna and weather allow. So watch for any announcements regarding Tuna sales. I am not holding my breath on this but we are hopeful.

Stayed tuned as I will try and make weekly updates on the goings on at KC Sport Fishing and share news as it comes

Salmon, Salmon, Every Where

Summer arrived this week and so have the Salmon. We headed out yesterday and could not get away from the Coho! From the surface to 260 feet down Coho, Coho, Coho, it's like Humpies in Puget Sound.........The action should only get better because we are still 6 weeks from the peak. I can not imagine the size these Coho will be in 2 months. Our #6 Silver Horde Cookies and Cream spoon was the ticket this week. The Polar Orange flasher from QCove in combination was it. The rod never stayed set more than 5 mins without a fish. We have these at our store in Westport so stop by and see us this week.

Westport Salmon Fishing has Exploded

The outlook for this weekend is off the charts. Look for Salmon straight out from 120 feet of water out to 300 feet of water. Bait was the ticket last week and should continue to be the same this week. Try a 6 inch plug or spoon to get through the smaller fish. Water conditions this week are looking the best we have had since the season began.
